Cardiological diagnostics refers to radiological and nuclear-medical examinations of the heart. Using magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) it is possible to depict the heart, its form and its functions. Possibilities include e.g. measuring cardiac output, as well as examinations of the heart muscle tissue for vitality, inflammation or scar-like alterations.

Myocardial scintigraphy permits conclusions regarding the functional capacity of the heart muscle and possible circulation problems.

In a special heart CT it is possible to measure the calcification of the coronary arteries/blood vessels. On the basis of these values the radiologist can assess the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), e.g. arteriosclerosis.
