The aim of inflammation diagnostics is to localize the initial source of inflammation in the body. Contrast agents, which are given in connection with x-ray, computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance tomography (MRT), enable us to trace a centre of inflammation in the whole body. In addition, in nuclear medicine it is possible to carry out a scintigraphy, which – in the course of a single examination – allows a search of the entire body for any focal point with noticeably high metabolic activity as a sign of inflammation.
